Greetings from Lake Safety!
We are a group of members who gather occasionally and are interested in how we keep our lakes safe for all the fun activities that happen on them. Some of our work is reviewing the Lake Safety Rules, keeping them up to date, and registering members’ boats. We also publish tips in our Timberlake newsletter to promote Lake Safety. We welcome new committee members, and your ideas will be greatly appreciated. You do not need to own a boat to be on this Committee.
Lake Safety meetings are ON HOLD until further notice. The Lake Safety Chair position is open as of 6/29/26. If you’d like to apply, please contact the office or the Board.
May 26, 2026:
Saturday on Memorial Day weekend brought out the inner-tubers and the ski boats for holiday fun! Also, it’s fun to see the people fishing the lakes! On May 12, 2026, the reworked Resolution 2018-02 Lake Safety Rules (to include boat owners and operators), now to be known as Resolution 2026-02 WATER RECREATION AND BOATING SAFETY & USE RULES, was voted on and accepted by the Board. It can be read online in DRAFT form. It was moved forward onto the 30-day membership review period. The review period closing date is June 11th, 2026. We received one comment from the audience at that meeting. The Committee will work on this comment and report back to the Board and the membership. Should this comment’s solution be acceptable to all at the Board Meeting after the review closing date (TBD), it will be official, and the Board will have it recorded in Mason County and add it to the online Resolution files. The Committee still has more work to do at our next meeting, which is on May 28th at the MPC at 6 PM. Boat owners, one last item: DON’T FORGET TO REGISTER YOUR BOATS! Contact your office staff; they can help with this. Thanks, Everyone! Tom Hanson (former chairman).
4/27/26 A Message From our Former Lake Safety Chairman:
Welcome to Springtime! The lakes having been recently stocked with trout, I look out at the lake and see those fish mocking me as I’m typing this! Timberlake’s Lake Safety Committee has completed its work on the new TCC Resolution #2026-02, titled “WATER RECREATION AND BOATING, SAFETY & USE RULES”. It’s now in a DRAFT 30-day membership review period for all to comment on. This updated Resolution can be viewed on-line and hard copies had at the MPC. Seventy-two-hour overnight boat trailer parking is now allowed, Skookum Park dock is open for all uses and the Salt Water Dock area has been included into this updated Resolution along with many other additions. The Committee asks the membership to take notice of unsafe practices that occur at our fresh & salt water facilities. Please speak up in a non-confrontational way to try and remedy the unsafe occurrence. If that approach doesn’t work, please report the unsafe incident to the Office. It is in all of our best interests to stay safe. This committee meets once a month, and we welcome all that would like to attend! The Reader Boards have the date and time of our meetings. Thank you! Tom Hanson (former chairman).
